  • AHED has Organized training courses on “Speech Therapy” – for physicians - that took place on March 3-24, 2005.
  • AHED and Plan International have both organized the 2nd festival for disability challenges during Cairo’s 37th Book Fair. The festival aimed at supporting the disability case through giving opportunities for those disabled, especially children and their families, so that they can express themselves and propose their work. In addition, the festival also paid attention to the disables’ rights, and the challenges they face toward development.
  • The Festival comes through the implementation of the “Child-Focused Community-Based Rehabilitation project” that is prepared by Plan International - Egypt, AHED, SITI Center for Trainings and Researches in Disability, the Save the Children - UK. Moreover, with the help of Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Insurance and Social Affairs the project is being implemented. As for the financial support, the project is funded by both Plan International (Egypt), and the European Commissariat. According to the festival, the disability case is seen as a case of rights and equal opportunities, and not just providing some services. This understanding of the disables’ rights matches with the scientific development that results from the cooperation with the case, especially in the last two decades. This means that disabled individuals are, in the first category, citizens who have the full rights of enjoying ALL citizens’ rights, ranging from having access to healthcare till having rights in education, work, family life, use of varies cultural, sportive, and entertaining means, including the right to participate in all social activities.
