Health Policies and Systems Program (HPSP)
The Program's Current Projects, Activities and Services are:
- Producing and publishing a report on health status and health services in Egypt.
- Conducting national seminars on health care priority issues.
- Assisting in setting a national agenda for health interventions based on prioritization health problems.
- Producing awareness raising leaflets on specific illnesses and health problems.
- Production of guidelines for different levels of health personnel.
- Conducting training courses on health systems research for NGO's both in Egypt and in the Arab region.
- Assisting in the development of demonstrative grassroots models for community health monitoring evolving active community participation in different urban and rural areas.
Environment and Development Program (EDP)
working to widen existing space and promote new ways to channel and facilitate the expression and defense of people's resource-related claims into the legal - institutional area; and promote debate and action regarding relationships between causes and processes of impoverishment of people and their environments. The work includes:
- Various activities regarding occupational health and safety rights (the work environment), and access to basic services.
- Research and advocacy regarding fishers' livelihoods.
- Initiating legal action which sets useful precedents.
- Promoting appropriate institutionalization of effective public involvement within the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.
- Preparation of a series of "Citizens' Reports on the State of the Environment".
Disability Program (DP)
The Program's Current Projects, Activities and Services are:
- Empowering of persons with special needs (PSN) and their families, and assisting their initiatives towards establishing their own organizations representing their needs and advocating for their rights.
- Providing training programs for different groups dealing with the disabled in the areas of prevention, early detection and rehabilitation.
- Producing awareness raising materials concerning the prevention and early identification - as well as those dealing with the rights of disabled persons.
- Organizing national conferences and seminars on disability-related issues.
- Assisting in the development of comprehensive models integrating disability prevention, early detection and community based rehabilitation at the grassroots level.
Resources, Publication and Documentation Unit
The Unit's Current Projects, Activities and Services are:
- Providing researchers and activists in the above mentioned fields with the needed information through a specialized library, periodicals, Internet search and audiovisual materials.
- Producing AHED's Web Site.
- Documenting and disseminating all outputs of AHED's programs (reports, books, leaflets, etc.)
